Candara Font is a modern sans-serif font typeface designed by Gary Munch for Microsoft and it is part of the Clear Type Font collection which is set of fonts designed by different designers for the new operating system Windows Vista that begins with the letter C to show that it is compatible with Microsoft Clear Type font rendering technology. Some of the other Clear Type fonts include Calibri, Cambria, Consolas, Corbel and Constantia among others.
Candara’s verticals have both an entasis and an ekstasis, as well as high-branching arcades in lower case, wide apertures of all types which are open, and unique ogee curves on diagonals. Candara italic includes most of the serif and calligraphic elements that are characteristic of modern sans-serif fonts such as Calibri or Corbel which are also part of this group: they have similar structures and designs.
